Job Title:
Material Handler II
Position Summary:
The Material Handler II is responsible for advanced material handling, shipping, and inventory control activities, including domestic and international shipments. This role supports warehouse and distribution operations while ensuring compliance with U.S. export regulations. The position requires experience in export documentation preparation and electronic export filings through AES and ACE systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing documentation Accurately pick, pack, stage, and ship materials in accordance with work orders and customer requirements Prepare domestic and international shipments, including proper packaging and labeling Generate and review export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other required trade documents Submit Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings through the Automated Export System (AES) Process export-related entries and filings through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) as required Ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations (EAR and other applicable trade regulations) Validate HTS/Schedule B classifications and support documentation accuracy Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure timely and compliant shipments Perform ERP/WMS inventory and shipping transactions accurately and timely Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (as certified) Maintain organized records in accordance with company and regulatory retention policies Identify process improvements and assist in training junior team members
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of warehouse, material handling, or shipping experience Experience with international shipping and export documentation Working knowledge of AES filings and ACE portal processes Familiarity with ERP systems and warehouse management systems Strong understanding of inventory control practices Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Incoterms Hazardous materials shipping certification (IATA, IMDG, or DOT) Experience in a regulated manufacturing or distribution environment Basic understanding of trade compliance and customs regulations
