Job Description

Looking to add a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to our crew. The material handlers unload, receive, and maintain inventory of the sheet stock. This position is also responsible for delivering sheet stock to each of the cutting machines to maintain the production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Unloads raw materials from supplier trucks. Receives all sheet material into the inventory system and verifies material is correct, in good condition, and matches the quantity on the packing slip. Prints and affixes barcoded tags to sheet pallets for identification and traceability. Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies into stock racks, scanning material barcodes to maintain accurate inventory locations, and working with buyers on inventory discrepancies. Locates materials and supplies using the inventory system based on production needs. Maintains inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies as needed. Maintains the inventory location system by scanning barcodes to track all sheet material movement. Consolidates skids of like sheet stock to maximize shelf utilization and minimize clutter on the shop floor. Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and completing general maintenance requirements. Works with Safety Committee to conduct forklift evaluations and annual operator observations. Manages pallet inventory. Dump scrap metal bins, trash, and recycling bins as required. Keep work area neat and orderly to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Prescott Metal achieve its goals.
Inspection Requirements:
Verify Job Traveler for pulling material and staging jobs to cutting centers. Inspect incoming material to ensure shipment matches packing slips and is in good condition. Inspect forklift daily, notify manager of the need for service. Inspect material racking. Inspect pallets to ensure they are in good condition prior to use.
Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:
High school/technical school diploma or equivalent. Organization, scheduling, analyzing information, dealing with complexity, deadline-oriented, time management, process improvement, safety management, inventory control, lifting, and data entry skills. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Demands/Work Conditions:
Material handler is seated running a forklift with periodic standing throughout the day, walking, stooping, and reaching, as well as frequently lifting manually and/or moving material up to 50 pounds. Typical manufacturing environment, subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil and powder coating.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
Safety glasses while on the Production floor. Earplugs while machinery is operating. Gloves when handling material. Safety shoes.
