Job Title:
General Labor Job Description This role involves physically demanding general labor work in a busy manufacturing environment. You will handle metal automotive parts, operate and support machinery, and perform basic quality checks to ensure products meet required standards. The position requires frequent lifting throughout the shift and close attention to detail when sorting and labeling parts. Responsibilities Unload metal automotive parts into machines and ensure each part is securely clamped in place before operation. Load parts into the equipment while robots handle unloading and stacking, monitoring the process for safe and efficient operation. Lift and handle parts weighing approximately 20-45 pounds every 2-3 minutes throughout the shift. Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet specifications and standards. Sort and place parts into appropriate bins according to part numbers and labels, maintaining accurate organization. Follow established procedures to ensure that all parts are correctly labeled and stored in the proper location. Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support safety and efficiency. Work scheduled shifts that may include days, afternoons, midnights, and frequent Saturday shifts, with occasional Sunday work. Adhere to all safety guidelines and use proper lifting techniques to minimize the risk of injury. Communicate any issues with parts, equipment, or quality to the appropriate personnel promptly. Essential Skills Ability to lift and consistently handle 20-45 pound parts every 2-3 minutes throughout the shift. Proven previous or recent experience performing physically demanding work that involves frequently lifting 25-40 pounds. Working in physically intensive roles such as construction, farming, landscaping, or similar work environments. Comfort working with metal parts and in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus and attention to detail. Capability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures accurately. Reliability in attending scheduled shifts, including frequent Saturday work and occasional Sundays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or machine operation is an asset. Familiarity with automotive parts or metal machining environments is beneficial. Experience as an assembler, parts washer, or in similar manufacturing roles is an advantage. Basic understanding of quality checks and inspection processes in a production setting. Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced, loud, and busy environments. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility where metal machining takes place, characterized by a loud and busy atmosphere. The work area is well lit to support safety and visibility. You will frequently lift parts from waist height and from knee height to waist height, placing them onto equipment or into bins. Shifts operate on a rotating schedule, including days (8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.), afternoons (4:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.), and midnights (12:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m.). The position requires working many Saturdays, with Sunday shifts occurring rarely but compensated at a higher rate. The environment emphasizes safe lifting practices, consistent physical activity, and adherence to manufacturing procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Huron, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
