Job Description

Job Title:
General Labor - Automotive Manufacturing Job Description This full-time, long-term general labor position supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility that produces carpeted components such as trunk liners, headliners, hood liners, and floorboard carpets. You will work on a production line loading and unloading materials into presses, inspecting parts, and helping produce formed and trimmed carpet assemblies for the automotive industry. The role requires comfort with repetitive tasks, standing for long periods, and working overtime, including 10-hour shifts and frequent weekend work. Responsibilities Load and unload carpet assemblies and related materials into and out of production presses in a safe and efficient manner. Handle carpet assemblies weighing approximately 10-15 pounds and lift materials up to 50 pounds as needed for material handling tasks. Operate within high-production stamping cells that include multiple presses per cell, following established work instructions and safety procedures. Inspect parts coming off the press to ensure they meet quality standards, identifying and reporting any defects or inconsistencies. Trim parts as necessary to produce a finished, formed, and trimmed product that meets specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area around the press and material carts to support safe and efficient operations. Work closely with line leaders and production team members to meet production targets and efficiency goals. Follow training and guidance from line leaders and experienced production employees to quickly learn 2-3 jobs within the first week. Adhere to attendance and punctuality expectations by arriving on time for all scheduled shifts and avoiding unplanned call-ins. Work 10-hour shifts and consistently support overtime and weekend schedules as required by production demands. Participate in ongoing performance tracking and respond positively to feedback aimed at improving productivity and quality. Essential Skills Stable work history, typically demonstrating at least 1-2 years of tenure at previous jobs. Strong reliability and good attendance, including arriving on time for shifts and avoiding unplanned call-ins. Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekends, including consistent 10-hour days and a schedule that often includes six days per week. Ability to stand for extended periods while operating presses and performing repetitive tasks. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds when handling materials and moving products. Comfort working in a high-production manufacturing environment with tracked numbers and efficiency metrics. Basic manufacturing aptitude, including the ability to learn loading, unloading, trimming, assembly, and inspection tasks quickly. Attention to detail to perform visual inspections and ensure parts meet quality standards. Minimum age of 18 to work in the manufacturing facility. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, production, or assembly environments, particularly in automotive or similar industries. Background in inspection, trimming, loading, unloading, and general production work. Interest in developing skills in tooling, quality, maintenance, or supervisory roles, with a desire to grow within the organization. Ability to learn multiple jobs quickly, typically becoming efficient after about one day of training per job. Comfort working under the guidance of line leaders and participating in structured training programs and leadership development initiatives. Why Work Here? You will join a highly stable and growing manufacturing organization that has recently expanded operations and created hundreds of local jobs. The company invests heavily in internal promotion and professional development, frequently advancing production employees into roles such as quality inspector, line leader, shipping and materials, and even supervisory positions. A dedicated leadership academy supports line leaders and future leaders with ongoing training and development. The organization is undergoing a thoughtful rebranding with a new leadership team focused on improving retention and employee satisfaction, creating a culture that values strong attendance, quality work, and long-term career growth. Work Environment The work takes place in a large automotive manufacturing facility that produces carpeted products for vehicle trunks, headliners, under-hood areas, and floorboards. The plant uses stamping cells with multiple presses in each cell, operating as a high-production shop where performance metrics and efficiencies are closely tracked. There are several facilities of similar size in the same town, with approximately 70 production employees on each shift and three main shifts: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Current operations often involve 10-hour shifts and six-day workweeks, with significant overtime. Employees stand at presses with material carts, loading and unloading carpet assemblies that typically weigh 10-15 pounds and include a sound mat layer, rubber adhesive layer, and carpet or cloth top layer. On the first day, new hires pair with a line leader and a top-producing production employee, receiving hands-on training designed to make each job straightforward to learn, often within a day. The environment can be loud in certain areas due to stamping and pressing operations, and production lines are overseen by line leaders who attend a weekly leadership academy to prepare for advancement into roles such as production supervisor.
