Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials, products, and inventory within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or distribution center. This role supports production and shipping operations by receiving, organizing, transporting, and tracking materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, unload, and store incoming materials and products. Pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to support production, shipping, and customer orders. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and scanners (as certified and authorized). Maintain accurate inventory records through warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, or manual documentation. Perform inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock replenishment activities. Verify quantities, part numbers, and product condition during receiving and shipping processes. Load and unload trucks while ensuring proper handling and storage procedures. Organize warehouse and storage areas to maximize efficiency and maintain cleanliness. Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Report damaged materials, inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, and safety concerns. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and other warehouse duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or material handling experience preferred. Ability to read and understand work instructions, shipping documents, and inventory records. Basic computer and inventory system skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds or more, depending on company requirements. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods. Ability to work in warehouse, manufacturing, or outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
