Job Title:
Materials Specialist - Electronic Assembly Job Description This role oversees the accurate receipt, organization, and movement of small electronic parts and materials within an electronic manufacturing environment. The Materials Specialist ensures precise inventory control, supports production through timely kitting, and coordinates daily shipments, all while maintaining high standards of accuracy, organization, and customer service. Responsibilities Receive incoming parts and materials from customers and vendors, verify accuracy, and enter all relevant information into the Parts & Vendors system. Create packing slips for outgoing materials and finished goods, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly recorded. Set up and schedule daily shipments with carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and others, ensuring on-time dispatch and correct routing. Perform kitting duties by creating kit lists and labels for new jobs to be released to production. Pull and stage all parts required to build assemblies, organizing them into complete and accurate kits for production teams. Manage material and inventory counts efficiently to keep the Parts & Vendors system up to date and accurate. Maintain organized storage areas for small electronic parts, ensuring items are clearly labeled, easily accessible, and properly accounted for. Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies, shortages, or issues promptly to support uninterrupted production. Handle small electronic assembly parts with care and precision, ensuring correct identification, counting, and placement. Communicate professionally with internal teams and external customers regarding material status, shipments, and any issues that arise. Follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures to maintain consistency and quality in all materials-related activities. Adhere to safety guidelines and physical handling requirements when lifting, moving, or storing materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with inventory and inventory management systems, including maintaining accurate counts and records. Familiarity with the Parts & Vendors system or similar materials management software. Background in handling small electronic assembly parts in a production or warehouse environment. Ability to work efficiently in a noisy environment while maintaining focus and accuracy. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, kits, and shipments simultaneously. Why Work Here? Work Environment The facility is generally clean, well-lit, well-ventilated, and largely dirt and dust-free, providing a comfortable and orderly setting for handling small electronic parts. Some areas may involve contact with oil and grease, and working conditions can be quite noisy at times. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on a first shift. The role requires frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, extended periods of sitting, and occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching, along with regular use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate materials and components. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shakopee, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
