Job Description

Job Summary Piedmont Metals is seeking a dependable Material Handler / Kit Builder to support production operations by pulling, organizing, and preparing materials for manufacturing. This position is responsible for gathering parts, hardware, and raw materials according to work orders, verifying inventory accuracy, assembling production kits, and transporting materials throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Forklift experience is required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Pull and gather parts, sheets, hardware, and materials from inventory according to work orders and pick lists. Verify quantities, part numbers, and descriptions to ensure accuracy. Organize and package materials into kits for production use. Label and tag materials for identification and inventory tracking. Maintain clean and organized pallet areas, carts, storage shelves, and staging locations. Report missing, damaged, or incorrect materials to supervisors or leads. Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials throughout the facility. Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment as authorized. Load and unload finished products according to production requirements. Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Support warehouse, inventory, and production operations as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Forklift operating experience required. Previous warehouse, material handling, inventory, manufacturing, or production experience preferred. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Basic math skills required. Ability to read and write effectively. Ability to use basic hand and power tools. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to safely transport and handle materials throughout the facility. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Physical Requirements Regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise. Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing environment and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
