We ship thousands of SKUs to customers nationwide from our Chapel Hill warehouse. This is a two-part job. Most of the day is standard warehouse work: picking, packing, counting, and keeping the floor organized. The other portion is light bench production on starters and alternators: swapping pulleys, solenoids, and regulators to build finished units to spec. You do not need to be a mechanic, but you need to have confidence with powered and light hand tools. Every production task comes with a written, step-by-step work instruction that covers the what, the how, and the why. What we need is someone who reads the instruction, follows it exactly, and does it the same way the hundredth time as the first. What you will do Warehouse (daily) Pick and pack customer orders using a handheld tablet Cycle count inventory locations and report discrepancies Shred cardboard and prepare packaging material Receive, label, and put away incoming stock Keep work areas, aisles, and bench stations clean and organized Light production (per written work instructions, tasks vary, below are examples) Remove and replace pulleys on alternators; return removed parts to stock Remove and replace solenoids on starters, including drilling mounting holes to a specified spacing and diameter Open alternators, replace voltage regulators, rewire, and reseal Rebox finished units under the correct part number and label Verify each finished unit against the instruction before it goes to stock What we are looking for Required Comfortable using hand tools (screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches) and a power drill Able to follow written, multi-step instructions exactly, every time, without skipping steps Attention to detail: correct part number, correct orientation, correct torque, correct box Basic tablet or scanner use Able to lift up to 40 lbs, stand and walk for a full shift, and work with hands for extended periods Reliable attendance Preferred (any one of these is a plus) Automotive, small engine, marine, or electrical repair experience (professional or hobby) Assembly, machine operation, or quality inspection background Soldering or wiring experience Hands-on hobbies: rebuilding engines, electronics, woodworking, fabrication What the work is like Small team, direct access to the manager, no layers Mix of moving around the warehouse and focused bench work Clear instructions and clear expectations; you are measured on accuracy first, then speed Steady, year-round work with a fixed 40-hour schedule; no overtime, no weekends Physical requirements Lift up to 40 lbs unassisted; stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift; repetitive hand and wrist motion; use of drills and hand tools; warehouse environment (not climate-controlled in all areas).
