The Opportunity:
The Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting production operations by ensuring materials are received, staged, tracked, and delivered accurately and efficiently. This role is responsible for maintaining material flow, supporting inventory accuracy, and working cross-functionally with production and warehouse teams. A typical day includes receiving and staging materials, communicating with operators, tracking usage in systems, and ensuring all safety and operational procedures are followed. How you will impact
Smurfit Westrock:
Receive, count, move, and stage materials for production jobs based on job tickets and schedules Track material usage using both manual documentation and electronic systems Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and GMP requirements Operate forklifts safely and in accordance with company standards Prepare and stage materials for production use Communicate effectively with operators and team members Adhere to all safety policies and procedures Support cycle counts and annual physical inventory processes Investigate and help resolve inventory discrepancies Manage time effectively to meet operational deadlines Perform additional duties as assigned What you need to succeed: High school diploma or GED required Ability to pass in-house forklift certification Basic computer proficiency (email, word processing, database systems) Strong verbal and written communication skills Good organizational and time management skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Willingness to learn and follow safety, operational, and maintenance procedures Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization Reliable attendance and dependability Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role requires standing, sitting, mobility, and use of hands for extended periods. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work in a loud environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts.
