Job Description
- Job Title: General Laborer
- Job Description
- This role supports an industrial flour milling facility by maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient production environment. You will perform physically demanding cleaning and maintenance tasks around operating machinery, using hand and power tools to remove flour buildup and keep equipment and work areas in optimal condition.
- Responsibilities
- + Clean the industrial facility, including production areas, equipment, and surrounding workspaces to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
+ Scoop, shovel, and sweep flour from around machines while they are running, ensuring floors and platforms remain clear of debris.
+ Use hand tools and power tools to disassemble machinery components as needed for thorough cleaning and reassemble them correctly after cleaning.
+ Work safely around operating industrial equipment, following all site safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
+ Perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, lifting, twisting, and carrying materials throughout the shift.
+ Walk up and down multiple flights of stairs repeatedly during the day to access different levels of the facility.
+ Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily cleaning and maintenance activities.
+ Work in confined spaces within the plant when required to access equipment and areas that need cleaning.
+ Operate in elevated areas, including grated floors and platforms up to approximately 60 feet in the air, while maintaining proper safety practices.
+ Collaborate with a small team of coworkers, communicate clearly with supervisors and team members, and support overall production and maintenance efforts.
- Essential Skills
- + At least 1 year of experience in a non-climate-controlled general labor position.
+ At least 1 year of experience using hand tools or power tools such as wrenches and other basic mechanical tools.
+ At least 1 year of experience working 50 or more hours per week in a physically demanding role.
+ Ability to walk up and down stairs for 8 or more hours per day in a multi-story industrial facility.
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
+ Comfort working in very hot conditions, typically between 80 and 100 degrees year-round.
+ Comfort working in a very loud industrial environment around running machinery.
+ Comfort working in extremely dusty conditions and ability to perform duties safely in that environment.
+ Ability and willingness to work at heights on grated floors and platforms, including areas up to approximately 60 feet above ground.
+ Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces within the plant as required.
+ General mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial, production, or equipment maintenance environments.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Experience in general labor, farming, construction, or mechanical work.
+ Experience in industrial, production, or food-related environments.
+ Experience with equipment maintenance or basic mechanical troubleshooting.
+ Strong work ethic and reliability, with a history of consistent attendance in physically demanding roles.
+ Ability to follow detailed safety and cleaning procedures and to work effectively as part of a small team.

- Work Environment
- This position is based in an indoor industrial flour milling facility within an eight-story building.
The environment is very hot, typically ranging from 80 to 100 degrees year-round, and very loud due to continuously running machinery. The air is extremely dusty, and the work involves frequent exposure to flour dust throughout the shift. You will work on grated floors, including elevated platforms up to approximately 60 feet in the air, and will regularly enter confined spaces within the plant. The role requires extensive walking up and down stairs and performing physically demanding tasks for most of the day. The standard schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. You will be part of a small team of 3-4 people within a larger plant workforce of about 55. The dress code includes jeans, safety-toe boots, and weather-appropriate shirts and jackets as needed, along with any required safety gear provided on-site.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $20.
00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
