Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description This role involves working in a bagging room operating a spray dryer and supporting general production activities. You will handle physically demanding tasks in a dusty environment, including lifting, bending, stooping, mixing, cleaning, and packaging materials. The position requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and a willingness to learn multiple areas within the production process. Responsibilities Operate and monitor the spray dryer in the bagging room to support daily production activities. Perform general labor tasks, including bending, lifting, stooping, and standing for extended periods. Handle heavy lifting of materials and products, ensuring safe and proper techniques at all times. Assist with compounding and mixing materials according to established procedures and instructions. Support packaging operations, including bagging, sealing, and preparing products for shipment or storage. Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, cleaning equipment, and removing debris as needed. Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working in a dusty environment. Learn and support multiple areas of production to provide flexibility and coverage across the facility. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and address any issues promptly. Essential Skills Ability to lift 55+ pounds repeatedly and safely throughout the shift. Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and other physically demanding movements. Experience or comfort working in general labor, production, or similar hands-on roles. Willingness to work in a dusty environment with strong or unpleasant smells. Openness to learning multiple areas of the production process and taking on varied tasks. Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality for a 1st shift schedule. Basic understanding of safe work practices in a production or industrial setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in production, general labor, compounding, packaging, or mixing roles. Experience with general production equipment and processes in a manufacturing environment. Comfort with heavy lifting and physically intensive work over the course of a full shift. Ability to adapt to an older facility environment and follow instructions from supervisors. Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward learning and taking on new responsibilities. Work Environment The role is based in a production facility that has been in operation since 1885, offering a traditional industrial setting. Employees work primarily in a bagging room operating a spray dryer and handling various production tasks. This is a physically demanding position that involves heavy lifting, frequent bending and stooping, and working on your feet for most of the day. The standard schedule is 1st shift, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime work routine. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety and comfort in this industrial environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
