General Laborer / Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling mechanical and electrical components used in industrial equipment. You will work with hand and power tools, follow blueprints and bills of materials, and handle materials safely while contributing to a high-volume manufacturing operation. The position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to adapt to different tasks and departments as production needs change. Responsibilities Assemble mechanical and electrical components according to blueprints, bills of materials, and written instructions. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to assemble parts and products. Assemble cables for gears and related assemblies in accordance with quality and safety standards. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and tape measurements to ensure accurate assembly and fit. Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds as needed. Inspect assembled components for accuracy, quality, and proper function, and make adjustments when necessary. Follow established manufacturing processes, work instructions, and safety procedures at all times. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily and weekly production goals. Cross-train and perform duties in other departments when needed to support changing production demands. Participate in overtime work during the week, on unscheduled weekdays, or on Saturdays when production schedules require it. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and handling of tools and materials. Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or production problems promptly to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills Hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Mechanical experience, including working with mechanical components and assemblies. Electrical experience, including handling basic electrical components in an assembly setting. Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and similar equipment. Proficiency using power tools safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and bills of materials. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for layout and assembly. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds as needed. Comfort working in a noisy, machine shop-type environment with exposure to fumes. Reliability and flexibility to work 4 ten-hour shifts per week, with overtime as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in assembly and manufacturing operations. Experience assembling cables, gears, or similar mechanical and electrical subassemblies. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to adapt quickly and cross-train in multiple departments. Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support different areas of production as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility that operates as a machine shop environment. You will work four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, with shift start times at either 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. Overtime may occur during the week, on the weekday you are not normally scheduled, or on Saturdays when production demands increase. The facility includes large-scale manufacturing equipment and assembly areas, and you will regularly use hand tools and power tools. The environment can be noisy, and you may be exposed to fumes and typical industrial conditions. Team members are expected to follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
