Moonachie, NJ Job Description The Material Handler safely and efficiently prepares products for shipment by weighing, packaging, labeling, and documenting all outgoing materials. This role ensures that all packages and shipping containers meet quality and regulatory standards while maintaining accurate records within the company's systems. Responsibilities Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely to move, stage, and load materials as needed. Weigh packages accurately and label them with the correct shipping and product information. Inspect packages to verify they are not damaged and meet quality standards before shipment. Inspect shipping containers to ensure they meet applicable shipping regulations and internal requirements. Assemble daily orders according to shipping location or other specified shipping categories. Maintain accurate records of packages, including delivery notes, invoices, and other shipping documentation. Complete packing and order forms with all relevant and accurate shipping information. Seal shipping containers securely and label them clearly for identification and routing. Perform final checks for defective items and ensure only approved items are prepared for shipment. Ensure all packed items are moved to the correct loading area or inventory location. Essential Skills Experience with forklift operation and material handling in a production or warehouse environment. Hands-on experience with packing and packaging processes, including sealing and labeling containers. Ability to perform final quality checks on items and identify defective products before shipment. Strong attention to detail when weighing, labeling, and documenting packages and shipments. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with team members and supervisors. Ability to exercise good judgment related to safety and to adhere to workplace safety regulations at all times. Basic math skills to support weighing, counting, and verifying quantities. Basic computer and keyboarding skills to work within an ERP system and maintain accurate records. Ability to work overtime when production demand requires it, including scheduled overtime on Fridays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in general labor roles within manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse operations. Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems for tracking materials and shipments. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities. Ability to learn and follow standardized operating procedures for packing and shipping. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moonachie, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.22 - $21.22/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
