Job Description
- Job Title: Material Handler
- Job Description
- The Material Handler supports the powder department by masking, prepping, hanging, packaging, and removing parts, while safely moving materials between various work centers. This role operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and teamwork are essential, and requires consistent attention to detail when handling and processing metal parts.
- Responsibilities
- + Assist with masking, prepping, hanging, packaging, and removal of parts in the powder department.
+ Move materials efficiently and safely throughout the powder department to different work centers as needed.
+ Prepare parts for powder coating, including cleaning, masking, and arranging for processing.
+ Package finished parts carefully to prevent damage and ensure they meet quality standards.
+ Support powdering and sandblasting operations by handling parts before and after processing.
+ Use sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport materials.
+ Perform general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, picking, and packing in a production and metal fabrication environment.
+ Accurately calculate measurements using basic math functions, including fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
+ Effectively use measurement tools such as tape measures (imperial and metric) and calipers to verify part dimensions.
+ Operate hand and power tools safely to assist with prepping and processing metal parts.
+ Follow all warehouse, company, and safety standards and policies at all times.
+ Work collaboratively as a self-motivated team player with minimal supervision in a fast-moving production environment.
+ Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive team culture.
+ Work a consistent schedule of at least 40-50+ hours per week to meet production demands.
- Essential Skills
- + Experience with material handling in a production or manufacturing environment.
+ Ability to perform general labor tasks including loading, unloading, picking, and packing.
+ Experience working in a metal shop, metal fabrication shop, or metalworking environment.
+ Ability to operate a sit-down forklift for loading, unloading, and moving materials.
+ Knowledge of prepping, packaging, powdering, and sandblasting parts.
+ Ability to accurately perform basic math calculations, including fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
+ Proficiency in using measurement tools such as tape measures (imperial and metric) and calipers.
+ Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
+ Capability to perform heavy lifting as required in a production setting.
+ Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
+ Reliability to work at least 40-50+ hours per week.
+ Strong commitment to following safety standards and company policies.
+ Demonstrated ability to work as a self-motivated, collaborative team player with minimal supervision.
+ Consistently maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Previous experience in a powder coating or powder department environment.
+ Experience in inventory handling and material picking within a warehouse or production setting.
+ Comfort working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
+ Attention to detail when handling and inspecting metal parts.
+ Strong organizational skills for managing materials across multiple work centers.

- Work Environment
- This role is based in a manufacturing and metalworking environment within the powder department, involving regular handling of metal parts and use of material handling equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule, working four ten-hour days from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with the expectation of at least 40-50+ hours per week. The setting is fast-moving and production-focused, with strict adherence to warehouse and safety standards and policies.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $22.
00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
