Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator for the second shift to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role is vital in ensuring efficient materials handling, inventory management, and order fulfillment within a fast-paced distribution environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong forklift skills, safety awareness, and experience operating various warehouse equipment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to smooth warehouse operations while maintaining high safety standards and productivity levels. Key responsibilities include operating forklifts and other material handling equipment such as reach trucks, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and Hi-Lo forklifts to load, unload, and transport goods. You will be responsible for accurate order picking using barcode scanning systems, managing inventory through warehouse management systems, and supporting shipping and receiving functions. Your role will also involve adhering to OSHA and company safety protocols, performing equipment maintenance or repairs as needed, and ensuring manual handling tasks are executed safely and efficiently. This position emphasizes the importance of safety standards in production environments while fostering teamwork and operational excellence. Duties Operate various types of forklifts including reach trucks, lift trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse. Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for more complex issues. Pick orders accurately using barcode scanning technology; ensure correct items are selected according to order specifications. Manage inventory levels by updating warehouse management systems (WMS) with incoming and outgoing stock data. Assist with shipping and receiving processes by preparing shipments, verifying documentation, and ensuring proper labeling. Follow safety protocols outlined by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) to prevent accidents during heavy lifting or manual handling tasks. Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing materials efficiently for timely dispatch. Perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while maintaining proper ergonomics. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage solutions and improve workflow efficiency. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure compliance with safety standards in all operations. Experience Proven experience operating forklifts such as reach trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, or similar material handling equipment. Prior warehouse experience involving inventory management systems and order picking procedures. Knowledge of warehouse safety standards including OSHA regulations related to forklift operation and manual handling. Familiarity with barcode scanning technology used in logistics for accurate order fulfillment. Experience in shipping & receiving processes within a distribution or manufacturing environment. Ability to perform basic math calculations related to weights, measurements, or inventory counts. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper manual handling techniques. Previous experience working under safety protocols in production or warehouse settings is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent organizational skills necessary for managing multiple tasks efficiently.
