Shop Assistant Frye Mechanical Inc - 2.3 Dayton, OH Job Details Full-time $18 - $20 an hour 7 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Driver's License Shipping and receiving inventory management Materials handling Facilities maintenance Full Job Description Shop Helper / Warehouse Assistant - Roles & Responsibilities The Shop Helper / Warehouse Assistant supports daily warehouse and shop operations by assisting with material handling, deliveries, inventory organization, tool management, facility upkeep, and general shop duties. This role works closely with current shop staff, Project Managers, and field personnel to help maintain efficient operations and organized workflow. Warehouse & Inventory Support Assist with daily warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, staging, and organizing materials. Help receive, count, inspect, label, and store inventory in designated locations. Organize inbound and outbound materials and equipment by job/PM. Notify field employee/PM that their order has arrived. Stage materials by project to help prevent loss, damage, or mix-ups. Assist with loading and unloading trucks as required. Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse shelving, storage areas, and material laydown spaces. Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or shortages to management. Delivery & Project Support Assist with preparing and loading deliveries for job sites. Deliver materials, tools, and equipment to job sites as assigned. Help coordinate deliveries with shop personnel and Project Managers. Verify delivery paperwork, packing slips, and job number information when required. Notify supervisors of delivery issues, damaged shipments, or missing materials. Assist with returning unused materials or equipment from job sites to the shop. Fleet & Vehicle Assistance Help maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicles. Assist with basic vehicle inspections, including checking fuel levels, cleanliness, and reporting maintenance concerns. Notify management of vehicle damage, repair needs, or unsafe conditions. Support scheduling or transporting vehicles for routine maintenance when assigned. Tools & Equipment Support Assist with tool check-in/check-out procedures. Help organize and store tools and equipment in designated areas. Inspect returned tools for damage and notify supervisors of repair or replacement needs. Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of tools and equipment. Remove damaged or unsafe tools from service and report concerns immediately. Assist with tracking specialty tools, equipment servicing, and inventory organization. Shop & Facility Maintenance Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, warehouse, office areas, yard, and storage areas. Assist with general shop cleanup and routine maintenance tasks. Help keep restrooms, break areas, and common spaces clean between scheduled cleanings. Assist with yard organization and material storage. Support minor property upkeep, including debris removal, sweeping, leaf cleanup, and snow removal as needed. General Responsibilities Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment. Work cooperatively with shop personnel, field employees, and management. Communicate effectively regarding assigned tasks, material needs, and operational concerns. Maintain a professional attitude and dependable work ethic. Demonstrate willingness to learn warehouse procedures, inventory systems, and company operations. Perform additional shop or warehouse duties as assigned.
Note:
Must have a valid Driver's License, liable transportation, and the ability to fully pass a drug screen and background check upon hire date.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
