Lumber Yard Associate - Forklift

S&L Lumber is a leading building material supplier in the central Ohio area. We are currently seeking a dependable and hard-working individual to join our lumber yard team. Regular hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm and every other Saturday, 7:00 am - noon . Some additional overtime may be required at the discretion of the general manager.

Job Purpose:

To assist with all aspect of yard duties

Scope of Responsibilities:

Performs forklift checks; Builds loads to be delivered; Puts away stock; Helps maintain housekeeping and organization; Assists customers; Make deliveries in pickup truck when needed; Operates plow truck when needed; Assists in keeping break room clean; Assists with annual inventory Knowledge, Skill, Training, Licenses, Experience and/or

Abilities:

• No previous experience needed
• Some product knowledge preferred
• Candidate must be detail oriented and maintain a high level of accuracy
• Basic math skills are required
• Ability to read and write
• Candidate must have excellent customer relations abilities
• Excellent communication skills required
• Candidate must be able to read and understand a tape measure
• Candidate must be alert and organized Equipment/Software/Technology used:
• Frequent use of forklift
• Occasional use of saws
• Occasional use of pickup truck
• Rare use of plow truck Essential physical and mental functions:
• Candidate must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
• Candidate must be able to lift at least 100 lbs.
• Candidate must be able to repeatedly bend, lift, crouch, twist, etc.
• Candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize
• Candidate must be able to operate a forklift safely
• Candidate must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely

Working Conditions:

Outdoor weather conditions including cold, heat, ice, snow, rain, wind, etc.

Safety Requirements:

All employees are expected to adhere to the safety regulations set forth by OSHA and company policies. This may include, but is not limited to; eye protection in plants, hardhats outdoors, seat belts worn in all company vehicles, limited cell phone use and regular safety training. Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties as they see fit.
