Pipe Loading Job Summary:
The Loader Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment (such as front-end loaders, forklifts, or similar machinery) to load, unload, and move pipe materials within the yard, and shop. This role requires strong safety awareness, accuracy in handling materials, and coordination with yard crews and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate loaders and related equipment to load and unload pipes of various sizes and materials Safely handle pipe to prevent damage to products, equipment, and property Position pipes accurately on trucks, racks, or storage areas according to instructions Inspect equipment before and after operation, report mechanical issues or safety concerns Secure loads properly using straps, chains, or other restraints as required Follow all site safety rules, OSHA regulations, and company procedures Communicate effectively with ground personnel, truck drivers, and supervisors Maintain a clean and organized work area Assist with general yard or shop duties as needed Perform other general labor duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience operating loaders or similar heavy equipment Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, and load-securing practices Ability to read load tickets, schedules, and basic instructions Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience handling steel, plate, or industrial pipe Familiarity with yard, warehouse, or construction site operations
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly Frequent standing, bending, twisting, and reaching Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment (heat, cold, dust, noise) Ability to work around heavy equipment and moving machinery Safety Must follow all company safety policies and procedures Pre-Employment Drug Screening Requirement All applicants must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment.
