Job Title:
Warehouse Associate Job Description The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in a temperature-controlled, food and beverage distribution environment. This position focuses on safely and efficiently handling products, operating electric pallet jacks and related equipment, and supporting order fulfillment, receiving, and inventory processes. The role requires comfort working in cold storage conditions and the ability to follow detailed instructions while maintaining accuracy and productivity. Responsibilities Operate electric pallet jacks (EPJ), including single and double pallet configurations, in a fulfillment warehouse setting. Pick customer orders using onboard POS computers, paper pick sheets, RF scan guns, and barcode sticker printers to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment. Receive and unload inbound freight, verify and inspect products, and relay accurate information to the receiving clerk. Perform pallet break downs, restacking, restocking, palletizing, and staging to support efficient warehouse flow. Load outbound trailers safely and efficiently, ensuring products are secured and handled properly. Assist with inventory management activities, including cycle counts and date coding of products. Handle food and beverage products in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining product integrity throughout the process. Operate forklifts and hand-held scanners after appropriate training, following all safety guidelines. Read and interpret labels, pick lists, scanner information, and signage to complete tasks accurately. Complete required shipping papers, reports, and records accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate clearly and tactfully with co-workers and others in the facility to coordinate workflow and resolve issues. Work effectively in a cold storage distribution environment, wearing appropriate clothing and following safety practices. Meet physical requirements of the job, including standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day, repeated twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling inventory from shelves, and regularly lifting items weighing 20 to 100 pounds. Consistently follow safety procedures when operating equipment and handling products. Essential Skills Experience working in a temperature-controlled environment, preferably in cold storage. Experience in food and beverage distribution or a similar warehouse setting. Proficiency operating electric pallet jacks (EPJ), including riding pallet jacks and single/double pallet configurations. Ability to use RF scanners, onboard POS computers, and barcode sticker printers for order picking and inventory tasks. Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend English sufficiently to read labels, pick lists, scanner information, signage, and instructions, and to complete shipping papers, reports, and records. Ability to operate various configurations of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and hand-held scanners, following training. Sound judgment to operate forklifts safely and lawfully and to handle products safely and efficiently. Ability to work in a cold environment and withstand very low temperatures for extended periods. Physical ability to stand, sit, and walk throughout the day; repeatedly twist at the torso while lifting, pushing, and pulling inventory; and regularly lift 20 to 100 pounds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a receiver in a warehouse or distribution environment. Experience in general food distribution operations. Experience with sit-down forklifts and reach trucks is beneficial but not required. Order picking experience using RF scanners and POS systems. Ability to learn and operate additional warehouse equipment with provided training. Willingness to consistently report to work and reliably complete assigned tasks. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and documenting inventory. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a cold storage distribution facility that maintains very low temperatures to preserve food and beverage products. Team members work in a fast-paced warehouse environment that relies on electric pallet jacks, forklifts, RF scanners, POS computers, and barcode printers to manage inventory and fulfill orders. Full clothing bibs and other cold-weather gear are used to stay comfortable and safe in the cold conditions. The position requires frequent movement throughout the facility, including standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment, while adhering to established safety procedures and best practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
