Description Job Summary:

A Production Shop General Laborer paints, details, and crates products, preparing them or shipment. A General Laborer must be able to set up and operate various pieces of industrial equipment including, but not limited to: fork trucks, cranes, grinders, power tools, torches, and saws.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Painting

Prepare products for painting by cleaning in accordance with the painting specifications.

Remove or mask items that don't require paint.

Mix paint in accordance with directions.

Paint equipment in accordance with the painting specifications.

Detailing

Removing masking materials.

Re-assemble instruments and electrical devices removed for painting.

Install equipment tags as specified.

Final cleaning and quality control check.

Photograph products for documentation and marketing purposes.

Crating

Design and fabricate crating to protect product during shipment.

Perform final quality control checks.

Document shipping dimensions and weight.

Communicate shipping information to the shipping department.

Skills & Competencies:

Carpentry skills

Driver's License required. Experience in operating forklifts desired.

Working knowledge of painting systems

Basic math and recording abilities.

Excellent organizational skills.

Great communication and interpersonal abilities.

Keen eye for detail.

Good physical condition.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is desired.

Completion of a Carpentry Certification, apprenticeship program, or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

A history of successful work experience is preferred.

The role requires strong focus and the ability to concentrate on detailed tasks for extended periods without distraction. Physical demands include regular use of arms, legs, and full-body movement—such as standing, walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and handling materials.
