Job Description

Based in the greater Pittsburgh area, we are a leading manufacturer of steam clean generators, tube bundles, packaged water heaters, pressure vessels, and tanks for the plumbing and heating systems and industrial processes. We have been in business for over 90 years and have established ourselves as a reputable and reliable manufacturer.

Position OverviewWe are seeking a diligent Material Handler to support efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within our warehouse and logistics operations. The role focuses on accurate order fulfillment, inventory control, safe operation of material handling equipment, and coordination of shipping and receiving activities. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, experienced with warehouse systems and equipment, and able to maintain productivity and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform order picking, picking and packing, and palletizing to prepare customer and production orders accurately and on time.

Operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts (Certified Forklift Operator), conveyors, and, where applicable, overhead crane/hoist safely and in accordance with procedures.

Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF barcode scanning devices to receive, put-away, pick, and stage inventory; update records in real time.

Carry out shipping and receiving functions including loading and unloading trucks, preparing shipping documentation (BOL), coordinating with carriers, and staging outbound loads.

Execute inventory control tasks such as inventory reconciliation, cycle counting, and periodic audits to maintain accurate stock levels.

Perform stock replenishment, binning, pallet racking, and organization of storage areas to support efficient order fulfillment and material flow.

Follow cold chain/temperature-controlled storage procedures for temperature-sensitive products to preserve quality and compliance.

Support cross-docking, staging, and quick-turn operations to minimize dwell time and improve throughput.

Apply packaging and labeling, crating, shrink-wrapping, and pallet securing methods to protect products during storage and transit.

Inspect incoming parts and materials for quality and accuracy; report and document damaged or nonconforming items and assist with returns process.

Participate in conveyor system operations and troubleshooting, and perform basic preventive maintenance on material handling equipment.

Adhere to
HAZMAT/DOT
regulations when handling hazardous materials, and ensure proper labeling, segregation, and documentation where required.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Kanban, Lean, and 5S principles to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Maintain strict compliance with OSHA safety requirements, use of PPE, safe lifting techniques, and site-specific safety rules to prevent incidents.

Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel to support reporting, order tracking, and coordination with logistics and supply chain teams.

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or post-secondary coursework in logistics/warehouse operations is a plus.1-3 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or material handling roles preferred; demonstrated experience with order picking, packing, and shipping/receiving.

Certified Forklift Operator and proven forklift operation experience; experience operating pallet jacks, overhead crane/hoist, and other material handling equipment preferred.

Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF barcode scanning, and scanning/tracking systems; experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of inventory control practices, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and stock replenishment techniques.

Familiarity with shipping documentation (BOL), carrier coordination, and general logistics/supply chain basics.

Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards, HAZMAT/DOT regulations, and cold chain/temperature-controlled storage protocols where applicable.

Hands-on experience with packaging and labeling, palletizing, pallet racking, and crating/shrink-wrapping methods.

Comfortable using MS Excel for basic data entry, reporting, and inventory analysis.

Ability to follow Lean, Kanban, and 5S methods to support continuous improvement activities.

Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials safely; able to stand and walk for extended periods and work flexible shifts including nights or weekends as needed.

Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening as part of hiring.
