Job Description

The Material Handler ensures parts and supplies are stored, located and distributed to proper departments; ensures product is shipped accurately and timely to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Receive incoming products, materials, and supplies
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment
  • Prepare and stage materials for production and shipment
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies
  • Notification and/or delivery of incoming product to end user
  • Packing slips distributed to purchasing office for filing
  • Maintains inventories and packaging of product to be shipped and arranges transportation services
  • Review content list of containers prior to arrival to determine what staging areas are required based upon what is reserved for customers versus going into inventory
  • Determine inventory storage based upon height requirements, resolves inventory issues
  • Maintain export documentation for overseas shipments
  • Ensure shipments are completed efficiently within the designated shipping week
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and basic upkeep of dock and inventory areas
  • Process and manage all customer returns
  • Operate warehouse equipment
  • Verify incoming raw plastic material deliveries and ensure proper silo placement
  • Provide end of the month report for all cartons, pallets, silo materials and imports
  • Support inventory audits
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments to support operations
  • Follow established safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous warehouse or material handling experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of UPS/FedEx and other shipping software
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred and ability to maintain certification
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow written instructions
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced setting while meeting deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative and a proactive, results-driven work ethic
  • Basic math and computer skills
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Possess large motor skills to climb a ladder, bend, twist, and lift boxes which have a weight range of approximately 10 to 60 pounds, and lift at shoulder level
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
  • Comfortable at working at heights
  • Moderate motor skills and finger dexterity
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office and warehouse environments
  • Exposure to weather elements
  • Use of PPE as required
