Job Description
Why Work Here? Employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as 401(k) retirement options and life and disability insurance once hired internally. The company offers clear opportunities for upward mobility and room for growth, allowing motivated individuals to build a long-term career in industrial manufacturing. You will join a team-oriented environment where hard work, reliability, and a strong work ethic are recognized and rewarded. Responsibilities Work in both the cleaning and racking areas and cross-train to support multiple stages of the galvanizing process. Use sanders and grinders to smooth metal surfaces and file down small bumps to ensure steel meets quality and finish standards. Perform touch-up work with paint as needed to correct minor imperfections on galvanized metal. Conduct overall visual inspections of steel products to identify defects, inconsistencies, or safety concerns before they move to the next stage. Handle steel materials safely as they first enter the building in the initial phase of processing. Remove steel from forklifts, ensuring safe and efficient material handling at all times. Tie, secure, and hang steel properly so it can move through the galvanizing process without damage or safety risk. Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure all materials are prepared, racked, and cleaned according to established procedures. Follow all safety policies, including the use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to hearing protection requirements. Work collaboratively with a team of 8-10 other laborers to meet production goals and support smooth workflow. Perform general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and squatting throughout the shift as needed to support operations. Assist with material handling and movement of steel components within the facility as directed by supervisors or leads. Work Environment This position is based in a dirty and dusty manufacturing and foundry-style environment that supports hot-dip galvanizing of raw steel, specifically in the non-molten dipping process area. The facility is loud, and hearing protection is required at all times in designated areas. The workspace is not temperature controlled, so summers can be hot and winters cold, and you will work closely with a team of approximately 8-10 other laborers. Day shift typically runs from 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with breaks from 9:00-9:15 a.m. and 11:00-11:30 a.m. Night shift runs from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with breaks from 5:00-5:15 p.m. and 7:30-8:00 p.m. Overtime is a regular part of the schedule: during peak periods such as August, every Saturday is required, and after that, Saturdays are worked on a rotating basis for day and night shifts. The dress code requires durable work clothing such as jeans and a long-sleeve shirt (or the use of arm sleeves), along with steel-toed boots and metatarsal guards to ensure proper protection in this heavy industrial setting.
