Description Position Summary:
The Material Handler II performs the material handler function with a focus on continuous improvement in daily activities through suggesting ideas, implementing solutions, and leading or participating in improvement projects. Pick, count, and package electrostatic sensitive and non-sensitive material into production kits for the manufacturing of complex mechanical and electronic assemblies.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Recognizes and actively makes suggestions for improvement. Understands and assesses the impact of improvement suggestions on the stockroom and other areas of the organization.
  • Leads and/or participates in improvement projects. May assist with the planning and assigning of personnel for given projects or tasks.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately with stockroom team members and other team members throughout the organization. Ensures process changes are communicated clearly and effectively to other affected departments.
  • Acts as a resource and trainer for others on stockroom procedures. Ensures process changes are clearly documented and training occurs.
  • Builds mechanical and electronic assembly kits utilizing a work order based pick list.
  • Selects proper packaging materials to safe guard sensitive material until point of consumption.
  • Receives in and stores sensitive and non-sensitive electronic material utilizing the company's inventory control system.
  • Communicates the status of assembly kits to Program Managers, Planners, Shipping Department and Production Supervisors.
  • Utilizes computer to accurately update inventory on hand quantities and kit status in IC/ERP systems.
  • Uses various hand tools and equipment to complete packaging responsibilities: box cutters, heat sealers, pallet jacks, forklift, scales, and calipers.
  • Participates in physical inventories of warehouse and/or stock locations.
  • May perform PWB baking/marking, axial lead component preparation, and axial lead sequencing operations based upon departmental demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of this organization.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Consistently demonstrates leadership traits through daily interactions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work and process instructions, data sheets, standard measurements and ERP systems
  • Demonstrates flexibility in juggling work priorities throughout the day, enjoys variety in daily functions
  • Customer service oriented, effective interpersonal skills and leadership skills
  • Able to handle stress and work in a fast-changing environment
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to demonstrate high attention to detail and focus
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years inventory control or supply chain experience or certification
  • Lean training preferred.
Willingness to learn and demonstrated continued development towards a Lean Certification required.
Work Environment:
  • Warehouse and Manufacturing floor; Requires physical capability to work up to 9 hours a day including; sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Sechan Electronics operates on a 9/80 work schedule, across multiple shifts. Normal business hours are Monday through Thursday (and every other Friday) the company operations shut down. Work schedule are established by individual department managers and are subject to change based on business needs.
