Job Title:

MATERIAL HANDLER - RIVET CLEANING & HEAT TREATMENT

Description:

Setup, operate and continually load/unload various machines associated with fastener parts cleaning, degreasing, heat-treating and other treatment operations. Perform general departmental maintenance including machine cleaning, preventative maintenance, quality checks, documentation and inventory. The ability to follow directions is extremely important as well as deductive reasoning skills, ability to multi-task, and being able to work independently. This position requires an individual that is able to safely move heavy material around their department on a continual basis.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain the flow of parts into and out of equipment and through the department in an efficient and timely manner.
• Do not allow parts or identification cards to become mixed.
• Using powered lift trucks and other manual means, transport materials through the department. Maintain strict safety standards at all times.
• Load and unload pans of rivets into and out of rivet cleaning equipment. Properly care for and maintain cleaning and oven equipment. o Properly clean and handle the process waste within the department. o Keep the area around the degreaser as clean and dry as possible.
• Set up and operate gas and electric heat treat furnaces.
• Accurately perform and record results of Quality Control Tests on parts being heat treated. Input results into the computer.
• Accurately weigh and record daily rivet production.
• Perform general departmental maintenance including machine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and raw material and parts inventory.

Maintain a clean and safe operating environment at all times for yourself and anyone accessing the department.

Skills or Experience Desired:

• High School Graduate or GED desired, AND o Experience operating and/or maintaining machinery in a manufacturing setting, OR o Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical ability with regard to making adjustments to machinery to achieve maximum operating efficiency.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

General:

• Demonstrate commitment to personal safety and following all safety requirements; use PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves
• Daily work in a standard factory and machine shop environment and frequent/high exposure to machine oils, lubricants, metal shavings, etc.
• Shift rotation as well as cross-training/rotating into Plating and Waste-Water Treatment operations may be required.
• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
