Job Title:
Warehouse Associate (1st Shift)Type of Position:
This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.Candidate Requirements:
This role supports a major defense contractor and requires candidates to be either U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents/Green Card holders to meet ITAR compliance requirements. Candidates who require or currently hold work authorization through F1-CPT, F1-OPT, H-1B, TN, or other temporary visa classifications are not eligible for this role. Due to the nature of the work and federal contractor requirements, offers may be contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening, which may include testing for cannabis. There are no exceptions to this requirement, including for medical marijuana cardholders.Job Location:
Sterling Heights, MI (on site role).Compensation:
$34.56/hr. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.Benefits:
Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) - benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. This role will have 9 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.Overview:
HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire a detail-oriented Warehouse Associate to support shipping, receiving, and inventory operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, preparing shipments, and ensuring efficient material handling in a fast-paced warehouse environment.Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and manage inventory by identifying, labeling, and stocking materials accurately. Perform regular inventory checks to ensure stock accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Track and maintain a database of inventory locations. Prepare items for shipment, including picking, crating, packing, loading, and securing materials. Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation. Load and unload materials from trucks using appropriate equipment. Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of warehouse equipment. Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, and dollies. Utilize warehouse equipment such as overhead doors, dock plates, trailer restraints, banding, and wrapping equipment. Use computerized scales to weigh and count materials accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials when applicable. Support additional tasks as assigned by leadership.Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a warehouse or inventory management role. Valid driver's license. Ability to read and interpret shipping documents. Strong math, computer, and data entry skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook and related tools). Experience operating forklifts (propane or electric) and other material handling equipment. Experience using handheld scanners for inventory tracking. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills.Preferred:
Experience handling hazardous materials and knowledge of related safety procedures. Relevant certifications or licenses for material handling equipment.Work Environment:
This is a 1st (day) shift role. This role follows a 9/80 schedule, with 9-hour days Monday through Thursday, an 8-hour workday every other Friday, and the alternate Friday off. Shift starts at 6:00am. Role may require occasional overtime (OT). Occasional weekend work as needed (won't be common). There may be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x. This will be an on-site role (no remote work).Physical requirements:
ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift, ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday, full range of motion and physical capability to perform warehouse duties. Offer may be contingent on a background check and a drug screening, which would include testing for cannabis.
