Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description The General Laborer supports technicians, welders, and fabricators by assembling, disassembling, and moving structural fixtures used to hold submarine and boat components in a large industrial facility. Working onsite in Rhode Island, this role focuses on safely building, breaking down, and relocating mezzanine scaffolding and support structures using hand and power tools, while following direction from lead personnel. Responsibilities Assist technicians, welders, and fabricators with the setup and teardown of structural fixtures and support systems used for submarine and boat work. Assemble and disassemble mezzanine scaffolding and other support structures using hand tools and impact guns. Move materials and components around the facility by hand and with basic material handling techniques to support ongoing projects. Use hand tools, impact guns, and basic power tools to fasten bolts and hardware according to instructions. Follow verbal instructions from leads to determine what needs to be assembled, moved, or taken down next. Perform basic facilities support tasks related to organizing, staging, and storing structures and fixtures in the onsite warehouse area. Help keep the work area clean, organized, and free of obstructions to maintain a safe working environment. Handle racking and structural components carefully to avoid damage to equipment and fixtures. Adhere to all safety procedures and site rules while working in and around heavy industrial structures. Support the relocation and storage of structures out of the way between projects, ensuring they are ready for the next use. Essential Skills Experience assembling structures using hand tools and power tools. Ability to safely operate hand tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, and impact guns. Basic experience with power tools used for fastening and assembly. General labor experience in an industrial, construction, or facilities environment. Basic material handling skills, including lifting, carrying, and positioning structural components. Ability to follow verbal instructions from leads and work effectively as part of a team. Comfort working around large structures, scaffolding, and industrial fixtures. Reliability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with facilities maintenance or warehouse support activities. Familiarity with racking systems and structural supports. Exposure to assembly work in a manufacturing, construction, or shipyard setting. Ability to perform minimal blueprint or drawing reading is helpful but not required. Strong attention to safety and situational awareness in an industrial environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based onsite in a large industrial facility in Rhode Island that supports submarine and boat construction. You will regularly work with hand tools, impact guns, and other basic power tools while handling structural components and racking. The environment is active and physically demanding, with frequent standing, lifting, and movement throughout the facility. Work is performed around mezzanine scaffolding and large support structures, and adherence to site safety protocols and appropriate industrial attire and protective equipment is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of North Kingstown, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
