Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description This role supports the production of irrigation tubing used in the agricultural industry by performing hands-on tasks on the manufacturing floor. You will work with finished drainage pipe, ensure product quality, and prepare coils for shipment while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Responsibilities Coil drainage pipe after it is manufactured, ensuring each coil is neat and secure. Inspect drainage pipe for defects, kinks, or other imperfections and remove or report any nonconforming product. Wrap twine tightly around pipe coils to keep them secure during handling, storage, and transport. Use a knife safely and accurately to cut pipe to the required lengths. Handle, move, and position pipe and materials in the production and warehouse areas as needed. Assist with general production, assembly, and packaging tasks to support overall output. Use hand tools and power tools safely for basic production and packaging tasks. Load and unload materials or finished products as required to support shipping and warehouse operations. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of equipment and awareness of static electricity from the pipe. Maintain a clean, organized work area and support a safe, efficient production environment. Essential Skills Ability to communicate in English through speaking, reading, and writing to follow instructions and complete documentation. Capability to stand on your feet for the entire shift (8-10 hours) on a concrete floor. Comfort using a knife safely to cut pipe and materials. Experience or familiarity with general labor, warehouse, production, or assembly work. Ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding tasks such as lifting, coiling, wrapping, and loading. Attention to detail to identify defects, kinks, or other quality issues in pipe. Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance. No specific education required. At least 6 months of related experience in general labor, warehouse, production, or similar work (as indicated by references). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a warehouse or production environment. Back ground using forklifts or other material-handling equipment. Hands-on experience as a machine operator, production worker, or assembler. Comfort using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or warehouse setting. Experience with packaging and loading tasks. Ability to work effectively in a small team environment and follow supervisor instructions. The environment involves typical production noise and activity, including handling materials, coiling pipe, and using basic hand tools and power tools. The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule. The dress code requires closed-toe shoes, jeans, and a shirt with no holes or profanity to support safety and professionalism on the floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beresford, SD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
