Job Description
Description The Production Material Handler (also known as Water Spider or 'mizusumashi' in lean manufacturing) is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials to the production line. Their primary role is logistical support, keeping operators focused on value-added work by delivering parts, tools, and materials exactly when needed. Deliver materials, parts, and tools to the production line in a timely manner. Maintain standardized routes and schedules to support consistent workflow. Transact inventory movements in the ERP system to ensure material accuracy. Prepare for upcoming jobs by verifying material availability. Identify and communicate material shortages, delays, or priority conflicts to supervision. Follow defined routes and priorities to support smooth material flow. Remove empty containers, packaging, and waste. Perform cycle counts and assist in physical inventories as needed. Complete projects or any other functions as assigned by management Requirements Organized and detail-oriented with material handling tasks. Able to manage time and priorities in a fast-moving environment. Performs frequent material handling and movement on the production floor. Comfortable working on the production floor and moving materials throughout the shift. Communicates clearly with operators, supervisors, and warehouse staff. Basic experience with inventory or ERP systems preferred. Team-focused and adaptable as priorities change. Organized- keeps the workspace neat and materials sorted.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. Ability to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures. Frequent reaching and working overhead. Ability to work at heights greater than 10 feet, including ladders and rooftops. Ability to work in confined or tight spaces for extended periods of time.
