Warehouse Worker Job Description This role focuses on receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items within a stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. You will help maintain accurate inventory records, organize storage areas, and support safe and efficient warehouse operations. Responsibilities Receive incoming stock items, verify quantities, and accurately record data manually or using a computer system. Count and document stock items on a regular basis to maintain accurate inventory records. Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. Verify inventory computations by comparing system records to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or correct errors as needed. Store items in an orderly, safe, and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other designated areas. Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment to ensure clear and consistent identification. Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational standards. Keep detailed records on the use, condition, and damage of stock and stock handling equipment. Examine and inspect stock items for wear, defects, or damage and promptly report issues to supervisors. Provide assistance, guidance, or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers as needed. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently. Perform general labor and warehouse picker duties, including picking, packing, and staging orders for shipment. Support unloading activities and ensure materials are placed in the correct locations within the warehouse. Essential Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, complete documentation, and coordinate with team members. Analytical and problem-solving ability to identify inventory discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently. Ability to work effectively as a team player while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies that support effective security operations and protect people, data, property, and assets. Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment. Capability to perform material handling tasks such as packing, unloading, and general warehouse labor. High school diploma or GED required. 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, such as Material Handler. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in roles such as Material Handler, Forklift Driver, or Warehouse Picker. Comfort working with inventory systems or basic computer-based recordkeeping. Experience working in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. Familiarity with labeling tools and equipment, including stamps, tags, and electric marking tools. Understanding of safety regulations related to warehouse operations and equipment use. Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse or storage yard environment with a focus on safe and efficient material handling. You will work primarily on a daytime schedule, with a typical shift running from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The role involves operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, performing general labor tasks such as packing, unloading, and order picking, and working around shelving, pallets, and stored materials. The environment may require standing, walking, lifting, and moving items throughout the shift. Appropriate work attire suitable for an active warehouse setting is expected, and adherence to all safety procedures and equipment guidelines is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vonore, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
