Job Description
The Warehouseman's primary responsibility is to ensure that all incoming material is accurately counted, identified, documented and stored; and to work with all company personnel to ensure quality customer service . Job is outside and in a warehouse in the heat or cold, rain and shine. It is a physically intensive job. All the material handled is heavy and forklifts are required. CDL license would be a plus to help deliver material too.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with all established procedures for receiving inventory.
- Examine all incoming shipments, record shortages, overages, damages or any discrepancies on receiving documentation and obtain signature of the carrier. Identify damaged freight and communicate with credit department.
- Direct the handling and placement of material received to their proper location.
- Coordinate with the appropriate product department in the disposition of special orders. Learn and understand basic data systems functions in order to work effectively on follow-up work regarding errors, exceptions, etc.
- Preplan the receipt of incoming shipment to facilitate placement, labor and equipment required.
- Maintain a well-organized, safeguarded, clean, and bin located warehouse and yard.
- Communicate with the Warehouse Manager on potential inventory needs and gaps in fill rates.
- Monitor obsolete and slow moving inventory and communicate ideas for minimizing.
- Complete mandatory training courses for Warehouse position.
