Job Description We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Order Picker to join our steel supply shop. This position is responsible for accurately pulling and preparing customer orders of steel pipe, tubing, beams, plate, and other steel products. The ideal candidate is comfortable working around heavy steel, understands basic measurements, pays close attention to detail, and is willing to work as part of a team in a fast-paced outdoor/warehouse environment. Responsibilities Pull and stage customer orders accurately and efficiently. Identify different types, sizes, lengths, and grades of steel products. Read and understand customer orders, tickets, and material descriptions. Measure steel using tape measures and other measuring tools. Cut steel to customer-requested lengths and specifications. Accurately measure and mark material prior to cutting. Safely operate steel-cutting equipment, including saws and other cutting machinery. Load and unload trucks safely. Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Assist with bundling, stacking, and preparing material for customers. Inspect material for correct size, quantity, cut length, and condition before loading. Keep the yard and warehouse organized and clean. Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements. Work safely around heavy equipment, trucks, cranes, saws, and large steel products. Perform other general warehouse and yard duties as needed.

Qualifications Required:

Reliable and dependable attendance. Ability to safely lift, move, and handle heavy materials. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and make precise measurements. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate steel-cutting equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and steel products. Willingness to learn different types and sizes of steel.

Preferred:

Previous experience in a steel yard, metal supply, construction, warehouse, lumber yard, or similar environment. Forklift experience. Experience operating overhead cranes or other material-handling equipment. Experience cutting steel or operating metal-cutting saws. Knowledge of steel pipe, tubing, beams, angle, channel, plate, and other structural steel products. Experience loading flatbeds, pickups, trailers, or commercial trucks. Previous order-picking or warehouse experience. What We're Looking For We want someone who is hardworking, dependable, safety-minded, accurate, and willing to learn . Steel experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person who has a good work ethic and takes pride in doing the job correctly. This is a hands-on position and is not a desk job. Ability to safely perform physical warehouse and yard duties throughout the workday. Ability to work around and operate industrial cutting equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay:

$17.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 45.0 per week
