  • $28.
50 per hour +$1.50 shift differential
Shift:
2nd Shift, Monday-Thursday, 2:30pm-1:00am, plus overtime based on production needs
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Material Handler is a high-impact role that maintains continuous material flow and line readiness across glass, IGU, vinyl, and screen operations. This position ensures the right materials are at the right place at the right time, removes empties, manages carts and tags, supports quality flow, and maintains line-side visual management systems
  • eliminating bottlenecks and enabling teams to hit takt.
Responsibilities Maintain continuous material flow by staging, delivering, and removing glass, IGU, vinyl, and screen carts. Receive, inspect, sort, and deliver incoming glass and screens to the correct production areas. Support vinyl lines by staging bead, screens, glass, hardware, and balancers in sequence. Manage visual management replenishment systems, material requisitions, remake tags, and truck glass requests. Assist with quality checks, remake processing, and basic inventory tasks. Uphold 5S standards, report hazards, and support continuous improvement efforts. Provide relief coverage and collaborate with Leads/Supervisors to maintain takt and flow. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment, including sequencing, staging, and pointofuse delivery. Ability to manage multiple production areas (glass, IGU, vinyl, screens) and prioritize based on takt time and line readiness. Skilled in cart handling and movement, including identifying correct carts, removing empties, and maintaining flow without disruption. Proficient with visual management systems, tags, logs, and basic inventory tools to ensure accurate replenishment and documentation. High sense of urgency and situational awareness to identify bottlenecks, respond quickly to material shortages, and maintain continuous flow. Effective communication skills to coordinate with Leads, QA, operators, and support teams. Strong organizational habits to maintain 5S standards, keep work areas orderly, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to learn and follow standardized work, takt requirements, and safety procedures. Capability to obtain PIT/cart certification Physical Demands Regular verbal communication and auditory awareness are essential for performing the duties of this position. Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, reach, handle materials, climb, balance, and lift (50 lbs) as needed. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Work Environment May work near moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Moderate noise levels may require hearing protection. Use of PPE may include hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, welding jacket or bibs, welding hood, and earplugs.
