About the Company Washington Chain & Supply, Inc. (WCS) has served the marine, industrial, and offshore industries for more than 70 years as a supplier of anchors, anchor chain, chain fittings, steel wire rope, synthetic rope and rigging hardware. WCS manufactures its Marquip line of products in our Seattle, WA machine shop while also serving as a distributor for partner brands such Crosby, Van Beest, Cortland, Samson, Peerless, and Bethlehem Wire Rope. Position Summary General Production Labor employees perform a variety of production, warehouse, and yard duties in support of daily operations. Responsibilities may include machine tending, material handling, product inspection, packing, order fulfillment, restocking, and general maintenance activities. Work is typically routine in nature and can be learned through short-term training and demonstrated instruction. This position requires frequent movement, lifting, and physical exertion in a fast-paced production and warehouse environment. Employees are expected to follow verbal and written instructions, work safely, maintain productivity standards, and contribute to a clean and organized work area. Key Responsibilities Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time, with or without notice. Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, load docks, delivery vehicles, or containers by hand or using forklifts, overhead cranes, hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment. Sort and unload incoming inventory, accurately count materials, and stock items in designated storage locations. Attach identifying tags, labels, or other markings to containers, products, or materials. Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, material needs, or equipment requirements. Stack and organize inventory on pallets, crates, racks, or other storage containers for shipment or customer pickup. Record quantities of units handled or moved using production sheets, work tickets, or inventory systems. Install protective devices such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent damage during transportation or storage. Attach slings, hooks, or lifting devices to loads and assist in guiding materials safely during movement. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times. Maintain equipment and storage areas to ensure inventory and materials are properly protected and secured. Operate forklifts and maintain forklift certification in accordance with company safety requirements. Refinish various products or components using a dip tank process. Use cutting torches and related equipment to cut chain or materials to customer specifications. Perform testing procedures in designated test bed areas following established guidelines to ensure product quality, functionality, and reliability prior to shipment. Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and operational guidelines. Assist with general warehouse, production, and yard maintenance duties as assigned. Experience:
• High School or equivalent
License/Technical Skills:
• Current driver's license with No restrictions.
Physical Demands:
Ability to safely operate a forklift and maintain required forklift certification. Knowledge of overhead crane operations and safe material handling procedures. Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to accurately inspect, count, and organize inventory and materials. Basic mathematical aptitude, including the ability to perform counts, measurements, and simple calculations related to inventory, production, and shipping activities. Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, labels, and safety procedures. Familiarity with warehouse, production, and material handling equipment and processes. Ability to use hand tools, cutting torches, and related equipment safely and effectively. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision. Understanding of workplace safety standards and safe operating procedures in a warehouse or production environment. Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works outdoors or in a covered warehouse or production workspace. The work environment may expose employees to varying weather conditions, wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), uneven walking surfaces, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and the risk of electrical shock. Employees may also work around forklifts, overhead cranes, cutting torches, and other industrial equipment commonly used in warehouse and production operations. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate to loud depending on operational activity and equipment in use. $22.53 - $32.18 per hour
