Job Title:
Environmental Impact Teammate (General Laborer) Job Description The Environmental Impact Teammate plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility, including buildings, walkways, fence lines, and operational areas. This position focuses on performing general labor and janitorial duties while strictly following Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The role operates under flexible parameters, with a primary goal of achieving excellence in safety, quality, and efficiency to support a world-class, customer-friendly facility. Responsibilities Maintain all operational areas, including buildings, walkways, fence lines, and work zones, in a clean and orderly condition. Perform daily cleaning activities such as sweeping walkways, removing rubbish and debris, and emptying trash bins throughout the facility. Power wash walls, glass, safety barricades, handrails, and buildings as directed by facilities leadership. Paint buildings, concrete barriers, safety barricades, and handrails to maintain a safe and professional appearance. Follow established procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to company property and ensure safe operation. Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental standards to provide a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors. Support the overall goal of maintaining a world-class, customer-friendly facility through consistent, high-quality work. Notify supervisors or managers when major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed. Requisition and manage supplies and equipment required for cleaning, maintenance, and general labor duties. Demonstrate willingness to learn and safely operate equipment such as forklifts and personnel lifts to complete assigned tasks. Work independently to complete assigned projects and related duties as directed by the supervisor. Handle multiple safety and maintenance-related tasks, adapting to changing priorities and critical deadlines. Comply with all safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment in a scrap yard environment. Essential Skills Ability to perform general labor and janitorial duties in an industrial or scrap yard environment. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on feet for an entire shift. Ability to work independently with reliable and consistent attendance. Comfort working in dirty environments and around dust and dirt without related allergies. Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights, following all safety procedures. Familiarity with maintenance, industrial safety practices, and the use of power tools. Willingness to strictly adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Ability to follow detailed procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment. Strong awareness of safety in environments with noise, fumes, dirt, and heavy equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors regarding repair needs and supply requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with driving a manual transmission vehicle is preferred. Experience in general labor, maintenance repair, or construction is beneficial. Experience in Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S) environments is an asset. Comfort learning and operating forklifts and personnel lifts under proper supervision. Prior experience in industrial, scrap yard, or similar heavy-duty environments is advantageous. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an industrial scrap yard environment and involves regular exposure to all weather conditions. You will work around equipment, machinery, and scrap materials, with physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt present. Personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and other gear as needed, must be worn to reduce risk. The schedule runs Monday through Friday with a start time between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., depending on operational needs (with an 8:00 a.m. start on the first day). Travel is not required. Workload can be unpredictable, and pressure may increase during peak times, with critical deadlines requiring adaptability. Disturbances to workflow and irregularities in the work schedule can occur intermittently, and extra hours, including some weekends and weekdays, may be required. The position is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing, lifting, and working in confined spaces and at heights while maintaining strict adherence to safety practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tacoma, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.79 - $23.79/hr.
