Job Title:
Warehouse Worker Job Description This role involves performing a wide range of warehouse operations, including material handling, order picking, shipping and receiving, and equipment operation. The warehouse worker supports efficient inventory flow by safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, accurately processing orders, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Responsibilities Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, including order pickers and side loaders, to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently. Perform order picking by pulling customer orders accurately and ensuring products are stocked and staged effectively for shipment. Put materials away in the appropriate storage areas upon receipt, maintaining proper organization and inventory placement. Assemble and prepare boxes and packaging for outbound shipments to ensure products are securely packed. Operate shrink wrap machines to secure pallets and outbound shipments according to warehouse standards. Use RF scan guns to perform cycle counts, track inventory, and maintain accurate stock records. Receive incoming materials, verify quantities and condition, and repackage items as needed for shipment. Handle general shipping and receiving tasks, including loading and unloading trucks and staging materials. Perform material handling duties using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment as required. Clean shrink wrap, cardboard, and other debris from work areas and dispose of materials properly. Mop floors and perform janitorial duties to maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment. Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines while operating forklifts and other equipment. Essential Skills At least 1 year of warehouse experience. Proven ability to operate a forklift, including sit-down and stand-up models. Experience with order picking and working in a warehouse environment. Ability to perform shipping and receiving tasks, including loading and unloading. Basic experience with RF scan guns for inventory tracking and cycle counting. Capability to operate shrink wrap machines or willingness to learn. Strong motivation and initiative to complete tasks accurately and on time. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving materials, and standing for extended periods. Attention to detail when pulling orders, stocking materials, and maintaining inventory accuracy. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Previous experience using RF scanners for order picking and inventory management. Familiarity with reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Experience with inventory control or cycle counting. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Demonstrated reliability and consistent work ethic. Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse environment on a first-shift schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, shrink wrap machines, and RF scan guns as part of daily operations. The role involves regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and safety, with team members expected to help maintain a tidy work area by cleaning up shrink wrap, cardboard, and other debris, and performing basic janitorial tasks such as mopping. Work is fast paced and team oriented, with clear processes and procedures to support efficient, safe operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
