Warehouse Yard Operator

Overall responsibility for the safe, accurate and timely (efficient) receiving/unloading of frozen/fresh meat and other ingredients, and movement of those ingredients with forklift.

Essential Functions:

1. Unload trailers of frozen/fresh meat and other raw materials. Verify weights and counts, and compare with corresponding packing slips and bill of ladings, and note discrepancies. 2. Using a forklift or other material handling device, store materials in racks, refrigerated cooler or freezer. 3. Prioritize work based on needs of requesting department, to accurately and efficiently reload materials onto trailers for subsequent movement to other buildings utilizing first in, first out (FIFO) rules. 4. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly department, through continuous housekeeping efforts. 5. Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality. Remain flexible to fluctuations in shift start and end times to support the priorities of the department. Ensure efficient transitions coming in to and going out of shift, by sharing key points verbally if possible - or in writing. 6. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds intermittently, climb, bend and use tools of various types in basic maintenance and trouble-shooting tasks. 7. Prior experience driving a yard tractor or semi-tractor preferred, but not required. 8. Abide by all safety rules and company policies, and enforce same with assigned employees. The department lead is expected to have completed, and demonstrated proficiency with all safety training required within the department. 9. Other duties as assigned by warehouse manager.

Physical Requirements:

1. Lift up to 60lbs intermittently, from floor level to top of pallet (up to 60") 2. Bend, Push/Pull, Climb, Squat, Reach, Grip, Grab, Hold various products, packaging and tools 3. Able to work in various temperatures including extreme heat, humidity and extreme cold. Outside work is part of the job requirements year-round regardless of weather conditions. 4. Able to work in environment containing dust and potential allergens, and smells. 5. Able to perform basic visual requirements, read small print and differentiate colors. 6. Understand and communicate basic verbal and written instructions and respond to questions. 7. Able to perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) 8. Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, plus overtime to meet department goals. Willingness to work a later shift (i.e. 10:00 am to 6:00 pm) preferred, but not required. 9. Basic mechanical aptitude, and ability and knowledge to use tools and equipment. 10. Ability to drive forklift required and yard spotter preferred, but not required.
