Description Full-time/Non-Exempt | 4 day-10 hour shifts | 7:00am - 5:30pm | $19.68/hour| Rotating weekdays off based on group assignment. Job Summary Material Handler (Miscellaneous Runner) is a key member of the Miscellaneous team, which is tasked with the main support for all needed duties to help the presort, pricing and packing stations operate as efficiently and productively as possible. Assisting with presorting, pricing, packing and redistributing donated miscellaneous items to the SVdP thrift stores around Dane County. This is an essential position that allows us to contribute to the many services SVdP provides! What You'll Do Inspect and process miscellaneous donations by evaluating items for quality, resale potential, and current store needs; price, pack, and presort products as needed. Maintain and support multiple processing workstations by keeping supplies stocked, removing trash, moving prepared products to staging areas, and replacing full gaylords, totes, and boxes. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including completing assigned cleaning duties and keeping production areas orderly. Work collaboratively and flexibly with the team, adapting to changing priorities and performing other duties as assigned. Support organizational values and compliance by contributing to an inclusive workplace, building respectful relationships across differences, and completing required safeguarding training. What You Can Bring Be able to work independently and adapt to ever-changing needs, job assignments and priorities. Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to operate a pallet jack and pallet wrap machine safely Basic knowledge of household items and resale value Capable of making speedy and accurate judgments of appliance items based on quality control information received during training or current needs of the stores Demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, ethnicities, and races. While performing the duties of this job: Employee must have the ability to maintain professional, patient and courteous interactions with a diverse base of customers, donors, clients and other SVdP staff Employee must frequently stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands to handle or touch product, tools, or controls. Stand at workstation for 3 hours between breaks for 10-hour shifts Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs with assistance from equipment or another person. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties Employee must be able to work assigned shifts consistently and reliably
