Operator - General Labor Job Description This role involves performing a variety of general production tasks in a physically demanding industrial environment, supporting manufacturing operations across multiple shifts. You will handle materials, operate machinery and hand tools, maintain a clean and organized work area, and contribute actively to a strong safety culture. The position requires flexibility to work different shifts, including rotating schedules and one weekend per month. Responsibilities Apply endplates by hand or using machines in accordance with production requirements and safety standards. Operate banding equipment safely and efficiently to secure materials and products. Assist in loading and unloading materials, including charges, using appropriate tools and equipment. Support material storage activities by setting stickers and dunnage to ensure safe and organized stacking. Essential Skills Experience performing general labor or production work, including physical labor and material handling. Ability to use hand tools such as hammers and other basic tools safely and effectively. Machine operation skills, including experience with production machinery and equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications 6-12 months of consistent work history in construction, farming, or any general labor role. Experience in machine operation, inspection, or treatment plant environments. Comfort working with a small team and communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in an industrial production setting that includes both indoor and outdoor work. Conditions can be very hot during the summer and very cold during the winter, and the environment can be smelly and dusty. You will typically work closely with a small team of 2 to 3 people. General production shifts include a 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime on Friday, and a 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime on Friday. The work involves physical labor, machine operation, and use of hand tools and material handling equipment. The dress code includes hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, long sleeves, and uniforms, all provided except for steel-toed boots, which you must supply. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Onalaska, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.17 - $24.17/hr.
