Zero Waste Facilitator Environmental Contractor San Francisco, CA Job Details Part-time $22 - $55 an hour 3 hours ago Qualifications E-waste Waste sorting Data collection Hazardous waste disposal Training delivery Full Job Description Zero Waste Facilitator A Zero Waste Facilitator is a qualified person(s) who serves exclusively in helping a property comply with separation of all refuse (compostables, recyclables and landfill materials). This service may include sorting refuse before final collection by the hauler and providing separation compliance feedback or education to property managers and tenants.

Zero Waste Facilitator Job purpose Zero Waste Facilitators help property managers and owners maintain compliance with Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinances while often lowering refuse collection costs. Zero Waste Facilitators assist both commercial and residential properties in reducing contamination in the recycling, composting and landfill streams, while maximizing material recovery by providing education and feedback to tenants and staff to improve participation, increasing collection efficiency, and sorting refuse. Duties and responsibilities A Zero Waste Facilitator manages refuse materials to achieve proper refuse source separation in compliance with codes and laws. Duties may include, but are not limited to:- Assessing and improving the buildings' existing source separation systems, including interior collection bins and signage.
- Assisting with preparation of a Refuse Separation Compliance Ordinance Plan.
- Regularly training tenants and staff about proper separation of refuse into recycling, composting and landfill streams
- Monitoring proper separation through on-site assessments, sorting, and other methods.
- Utilizing data collected from monitoring activities to address specific sources of contamination and regularly provide building management recommendations to improve the building's source separation.
- Sorting refuse from internal collection bins to remove contamination prior to pick-up from service provider
- Providing guidance on proper disposal of hazardous and prohibited items such as electronics, paint, lighting, bulky items, etc.
- Willing to work varying hours including evening, early morning and overnight shifts Qualifications The ideal candidate will have:
- Zero Waste Facilitator training or willing to learn.
- Excellent communication skills, including engaging audiences through presentations and trainings.
- Ability to collect data and write recommendations based on findings.
- Willingness to work in environments typically associated with refuse, such as loading docks and enclosures
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
