Job Description

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Hazen Paper is a world-class paper converter specializing in custom holographic originations; film, foil, and paper laminations; specialty and gravure coatings and rotary embossing. SUMMARY :
Hazen Paper is seeking an energetic hands-on individual to join our team. The Environmental, Health and Safety Assistant will provide product and process support to other departments including Manufacturing, Sales, and other departments. Gather environmental data and file reports. Stay abreast of constantly evolving environmental issues and regulations by attending seminars and conferring with consultants as required. The EHS Assistant has the shared responsibility with the Corporate Environmental Manager for ensuring that the Company is in compliance with all State and Federal environmental laws and for developing strategies for compliance with changes in the laws.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interpret regulations as promulgated.
  • Prepare plans as needed to comply with various input.
  • Conduct training for various programs as needed.
  • Maintain
MSDS/SDS
program. Acquire, scan into MSDS Finder and maintain historical MSDS and SDS records.
  • Data entry for ink and paste usage for VOC reports - Completed within one week of current date.
  • Review production journals and audit against Vision system.
  • Investigate missing production journals with representatives of Manufacturing.
  • Maintain monthly Make-up Solvent Spreadsheet.
  • Maintain monthly Water Usage Spreadsheet.
  • Perform regular in-house audits of environmental compliance.
  • Generate shipping documents for dangerous goods packages, including certifying shipments. Maintain DOT certification for shipment of Hazardous Waste.
  • Keep Material Safety Data Sheet files up to date, working with the Chief Manufacturing Officer on HAZCOM program.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S) from four-year college or university preferred; two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, conversions, and proportions to practical situations on paper and in Microsoft Excel.
