  • Full-time Job Overview Position serves as the coordinator for the Towns Solid Waste contract and provides administrative support to the Public Works Department in the flow and timely completion of short and long term projects, invoicing, and other special projects as assigned.
Position answers phone calls and electronic requests for service including solid waste, street and sidewalk issues, street light and storm water issues and other public works related services. Position coordinates with other departments in Town Hall for various needs as well as coordinates communications within the Public Works Department and field employees. Responsibilities Serves as Solid Waste Contract Coordinator accepting and processing calls for service and complaints and routing them to the Solid Waste contractor, following-up to make sure the appropriate services are provided to Town residents. Administer all functions of the Solid Waste Contract and RFP process not limited to approving contractor payments, reviewing tickets for materials collected, tracking cart deliveries and investigations, monthly solid waste reporting for the Town, and conducting monthly meetings with the Solid Waste contractor. Advises and assists in solid waste services inspections and investigations as needed for both residential customers and the solid waste contractor. Ensures state requirements and reporting are met with regards to the Solid Waste contract. Develop and distribute educational materials on solid waste and recycling for Town use. Makes presentations to Town Council and the general public when needed. Requirements Associates Degree with three years administrative experience and training in general office practices is required. Prior solid waste and/or local government experience in public works is preferred. Knowledge of modern office practices preferably within a governmental agency Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting practices Knowledge or public works and solid waste terms and services Good Communication skills, written and verbal Knowledge of the legal processes associated with the maintenance of public records and documents Excellent problem solving skills and excellent customer service skills Considerable attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize and complete multiple short and long term projects Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other Town employees, Town officials and citizens Excellent communication skills for coordinating with diverse teams and presenting technical information clearly. The work environment is an indoor office with a moderately quiet noise level. Work environment is largely indoors at a desk although includes a reasonable amount of walking throughout the facilities to various departments. A small portion of the work week could involve outside work for field investigations and picking up supplies as needed.
