Job Description
Position Summary Supervises Recycling Division personnel in curbside pick-up, sorting, and shipping of recyclables to satisfy the requirements of the Somerset County Recycling Program. This position is designated as essential to the emergency service function and is required to assist the department or division in meeting the operational needs. Essential Functions Motivate employees to perform to the best of their abilities, evaluating employee job performance and initiating recognition and disciplinary procedures when appropriate. Schedule daily personnel work assignments. Maintain daily production records. Control shipment of marketed recyclables. Establish and audit quality control procedures. Schedule benefit time in departments in compliance with Union contract and scheduling needs. Set up and maintain servicing schedule for trucks and mobile equipment. Direct activities of others to correlate and adjust schedules based on workload variables. Conduct performance reviews for all personnel under their supervision. Regularly communicate with personnel and management. Review work in progress. Adhere to and communicates County Policies and Procedures. Adhere to Union contract and the Recycling Work Rules. Advise and train personnel in safety procedures. Attend management classes. Schedule and assign personnel for curbside pick-up operations and the plant for processing. Drive daily. Respond to Union grievances as required. Operate equipment as required. Report for all mandatory overtime. Perform snow removal supervision for the Recycling Center. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Recycling and Public Works.
