Waste Manager Job Description:
The Waste Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe handling, storage, labeling, transportation coordination, and regulatory compliance of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at INTECH Environmental, LLC facilities and customer locations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations while supporting operational efficiency, safety, and customer service objectives.
- The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of environmental regulations, hazardous materials management, DOT shipping requirements, waste profiling procedures, and lab packing operations within the environmental services industry.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling activities in accordance with EPA, RCRA, DOT, OSHA, and applicable state regulations.
- Coordinate and manage waste characterization, profiling, packaging, labeling, storage, manifesting, and shipment preparation.
- Standardize waste profiles to ensure consistency, regulatory compliance, accurate characterization, and operational efficiency across all waste streams, customers, and disposal facilities.
- Acts as a liaison and mentor to Project Managers regarding waste profiling procedures, waste characterization, regulatory requirements, disposal approvals, and best practices.
- Provide training to others in the organization
- Maintain and manage the company Waste Log to ensure accurate tracking, documentation, inventory control, regulatory compliance, and reporting.
- Responsible for all annual reporting requirements for applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Work closely with the Director of Compliance on regulatory initiatives, audits, corrective actions, and compliance improvement efforts.
- Maintain compliance with waste accumulation time limits and storage requirements.
- Conduct inspections of waste storage areas, containers, labels, and facility conditions.
- Ensure all hazardous waste containers are properly marked, closed, and stored safely.
- Assist with regulatory reporting, recordkeeping, and document retention requirements.
- Support internal and external environmental audits and inspections.
- Prepare and review hazardous waste manifests, shipping papers, land disposal restriction (LDR) forms, and related documentation.
- Coordinate transportation scheduling with approved transporters and disposal facilities.
- Verify proper DOT classifications, packaging, placarding, and shipping compliance.
- Track waste shipments through final disposal and maintain required records.
- Manage all hazardous waste disposal activities utilizing approved 10-day transfer and storage facilities throughout the company footprint.
- Spearhead lab packing initiatives and projects, including waste identification, segregation, packaging, inventory documentation, regulatory compliance, transportation coordination, and customer communication.
- Assist with chemical identification, compatibility reviews, segregation requirements, and packaging determinations for lab pack projects.
- Coordinate with operations personnel, drivers, disposal facilities, and customers to successfully execute lab pack and hazardous waste projects.
- Promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and environmental compliance standards.
- Assist operations personnel with waste segregation, packaging, and handling procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping standards within hazardous waste storage and operational areas.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hazardous waste management, environmental services, transportation, industrial operations, or lab packing preferred.
- Working knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste regulations, DOT hazardous materials shipping requirements, OSHA safety standards, and waste profiling procedures.
- CHMM is a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software systems.

Pay:
$85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
