- Full-time External Job Opportunity Title Hazardous Materials Specialist Position Number 41158 Company Hanford Tank Waste Operations City/State Richland, WA Location 200E Posted 05/14/2026 Closes 05/28/2026 Regular/Temporary Regular Full/Part-Time Full-Time Job Responsibilities/Duties Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste.

regulations Assists with preparation of waste stream profile technical documentation to support calculations and incorporates into Waste Certification Plans. Assists with providing guidance and direction to facility personnel involved with waste management, packaging, and transportation. Performs field walk downs to ensure field work is performed to meet waste stream profiles, calculations and procedures. Reviews work packages for potential generation of waste streams. Assists with verification for compliance with H2C waste acceptance criteria requirements. Assists with preparation of Waste Program manuals and procedures. Provide leadership to less experienced specialists and facility personnel on waste management Required Qualifications Grade 18: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or a related field; and Seven (7) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Grade 19: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or a related field; and Nine (9) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 20: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or a related field; and Ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Desired Qualifications- Experience with application of Washington State, Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements.
