Under limited supervision performs work of moderate difficult in the operation of various mechanical equipment; performs related work as assigned.

Trainee:
$21.74 to $22.82
Operator I:
$23.40 TO $24.57
Operator II:
$25.11 TO $26.36 OPERATOR
TRAINEE TYPICAL DUTIES
(Illustrative only) Learns to operate various types of mechanical equipment such as compressors, tampers and asphalt cutters Passes and obtains Traffic Control certification Completes MSHA training and obtains certification Takes appropriate steps to obtain Class A Unrestricted with Tanker endorsement Commercial Driver's License within one year of employment (passes both written and driving tests) Learns to perform inspection and maintenance of equipment, , buildings, as well as paved and unpaved roadways. Learns to perform drainage maintenance Learns to conduct snow plowing operations, including application of ice and traction aiding products Completes Blue Stake training Completes electrical hazard training Attends all required safety training Participates in construction/maintenance projects May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs Responds to emergency situations Requires working various 12-hour snow shifts

LEVEL II - OPERATOR TYPICAL DUTIES
(Illustrative only) Performs the duties of Level I Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch (finger dexterity) working with equipment. Environmental conditions include but are not limited to w orking in an outdoor environment high majority of time which includes exposure to cold, heat, moisture and humidity; exposure to vehicle noise and vibration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid driver's license; if hired from out of state, must obtain an Arizona driver's license within 30 calendar days of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must obtain a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement within one year of hire and maintain throughout employment. Must pass internal Public Works equipment operation test conducted to hold an Operator position within one year of hire.

Two years of experience operating equipment appropriate to position under field conditions OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report. Must have, at a minimum, an Arizona CDL Class B with Tanker Endorsement at the time of hire. Must obtain a valid Arizona CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment. Must acquire Flagging certification, CPR/First Aid certification, along with MSHA certification within the first year and maintain throughout employment. Block One equipment training shall be completed within one year, as outlined in the CCPW Internal Training Development Plan.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must have an Arizona CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement and maintain it throughout employment. Must acquire Flagging certification, CPR/First Aid certification, along with MSHA certification within the first year and maintain through employment. Block One and Two equipment training shall be completed within one year, as outlined in the CCPW Internal Training Development Plan. Must be able to operate a motor grader for gravel road grading and during snow removal operations, within one year. The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety- focused professional who takes pride in maintaining public infrastructure and serving the community. They are comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, operating equipment, and responding to changing priorities and emergency situations. They demonstrate a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn new skills and certifications, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate values safety, follows instructions, communicates well, and can be relied upon to perform quality work in a demanding field environment. Positions are non-exempt from overtime. Positions are safety sensitive.
