Multisite staff work across several program locations throughout Alameda County, providing care and support wherever it is most needed. These sites offer a range of services, including post-hospitalization medically supported shelter, medical respite care, skilled nursing, and caregiving support. Staff in this role rotate between facilities to ensure continuity of care and help connect clients to behavioral health resources, including substance use services.Job Summary:
Housekeeping Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The position performs routine and deep cleaning of resident rooms and common areas, completes timely room turnovers, and ensures high standards of sanitation, particularly in high-traffic and high-touch areas. The role also supports infection control efforts by safely handling biohazards and following proper PPE and chemical safety protocols. Working collaboratively with Facilities, nursing, and program staff, this position helps ensure spaces are well-maintained, stocked, and ready to support daily operations.Job Duties:
Core Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain resident rooms, including full room turnover between occupants Perform daily cleaning of common areas (hallways, lobby, dining areas, restrooms, offices, entryways) Follow a standardized cleaning schedule (minimum 2x daily for high-traffic areas; dining areas cleaned after each meal) Complete room turnover within 24 hours when possible, in coordination with Operations and Facilities Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces throughout the site Maintain housekeeping supply areas, mop sinks, and storage spaces in clean and organized condition Receive, organize, and stock cleaning supplies and inventory Remove trash and recycling; clean and sanitize trash receptacles Clean windows, doors, and entry areas to maintain a welcoming environmentSpecialized Cleaning & Safety:
Safely clean and disinfect biohazards and bodily fluids (e.g., blood, urine, feces, vomit) following established protocols Support infection control practices, including enhanced cleaning during illness outbreaks Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times when required Follow chemical safety guidelines, including proper use, dilution, and storage of cleaning products Identify and report unsafe or hazardous conditions immediatelyCollaboration & Workflow:
Work closely with Facilities staff to coordinate cleaning and minor repairs during room turnover Coordinate with nursing and caregiving teams to ensure safe and appropriate timing for room entry and cleaning Respond to and complete work orders in MaintainX (or equivalent system) Communicate clearly with Program Managers and site staff regarding cleaning needs and room readinessMinimum Required Skills & Qualifications:
5 years prior experience in maintenance, janitorial Ability to safely perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Prior experience in healthcare, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, senior living, or supportive housing environments preferred Experience working in environments serving individuals with complex medical needs, mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and significant health disparities Familiarity with infection control and sanitation practices strongly preferredPhysical Requirements:
Occasional sitting or stationary work Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, and ascending stairs Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Frequent pushing and pulling Frequent reaching high, low, and levelWork Environment:
