Job Description
Job Description Position Summary The Integrated Solid Waste Section (ISW) exists to provide a clean campus on which to study, work and live. We remove solid waste from campus according to the ISW plan which maximizes the reuse of campus waste through recycling and composting with landfilling as a last resort. More information can be found at: https://www.fm.colostate.edu/ This position exists to assist in the collection, delivery, and processing of compostable material. It is a support role at the CSU Compost Site. The regular work schedule for this position is 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime is occasionally required. Essential Job Duties Compost Operations Collect compostable materials from campus and deliver to composting site for in-vessel and windrow operations. Assist in Maintaining in-vessel composter, Bagging equipment and Compost Screener. Report any repair problems to the ISW Manger. Maintain composting area and finished product composting storage area. In performing this function, the employee operates and perform minor maintenance on an 11050 GVW Cube Van and ¾ ton pick-up truck. Collection and Compost Site Maintenance Maintain compost site and compost bins as needed. Cleaning lids, around in-vessel composter, and windrow piles. Making arrangements for the bins to be thoroughly washed due to odors and appearance. Clean and maintain compost collection sites. Vehicle Operator Maintenance Routine operator maintenance of solid waste vehicles, such as checking fluids, checking and adjusting tire pressures, washing trucks, etc. Conditions of Employment Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires), Pre-employment Physical
- Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects, Valid Driver's License
- Will be required to obtain Colorado Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of employment, Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials
- Hazardous Waste is found in and near the dumpsters and Universal Waste is handled through the recycling program , Essential Services Designation
