SUMMARY:
Responsible for the collection, sorting, preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing to include old corrugated cardboard, newspaper, office paper, steel and aluminum cans, and plastics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables. Preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing. Operating equipment such as bailers, forklifts, front-end loaders, and compactors. Providing preventative maintenance as may be required for recycling equipment. Maintaining equipment and vehicle logs. Maintaining work areas in neat, orderly, and safe manner. Following guidelines of worker safety as required. Reporting and/or responding to accidents, unusual incidents, or public complaints as soon as feasibly possible. Performance of other job related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of solid waste/recycling principles and practices.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties on this job, the employee is regularly required to drive, sit, stand, use hands and fingers, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED. Preferably one-year experience in recyclable collection, preparation, and disposal.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Valid Florida CDL License/Class B or, if a resident of Georgia, Georgia CDL.
