(BL-PHYP-IUBLA) Department Information Capital Planning and Facilities (CPF) works to ensure that Indiana University (IU) campuses are beautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across the entire university. A unit within CPF, Facility Operations, maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and learning at Indiana University Bloomington. As a unit of Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all with the goal of creating a beautiful, well-functioning campus. Job Summary Drives street sweeping vehicle to clean streets of trash, debris, and other contaminants. Fills water tanks and drives sweeper near curb. Operates controls to activate rotary brushes and water spray to facilitate debris and dust collection. Dumps collected refuse into piles or trucks for disposal. Performs minor maintenance on street sweeper: cleaning vehicle regularly, checking fluids and tire pressures. Drives truck with snow plow to clear streets of accumulated snow. Drives dump truck, picks up trash, and performs other minor grounds maintenance tasks as needed. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required 2 years driving experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required Possesses a valid Class B CDL license and ability to be insured by Indiana University Upon Date of Hire SKILLS Required Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills Maintains a high degree of professionalism Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty Highly thorough and dependable Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure Excellent organizational skills Ability to represent the company with external constituents Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion Strong verbal communication and listening skills Ability to build strong customer relationships Knowledge of various street maintenance equipment, their use, and maintenance Ability to operate street sweeper vehicle, dump truck, pickup truck, snow plow, skid steer loader, tractor, and basic hand tools Ability to know your location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to you and the vehicle Ability to use basic hand tools Ability to work with wide variety of cultures and backgrounds Working Conditions / Demands This role requires stationary positioning for long periods of time. It also requires a CDL-B or chauffer's level driver's license issued by the State of Indiana and the ability to be insured by Indiana University. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential tasks with or without an accommodation.
